Shit! When I was in elementary school milk came in glass bottles, and you had to peel the foil top off. And the milkman delivered (where do you think I got these awesome cheekbones?). And the Wright brothers were experimenting with aeroplanes.

I'm obviously not as old as, ahem, Velociman, but I do remember milk in glass bottles.

At school we could buy a milk token for two cents and trade it for a paper half pint at recess or lunch.

As for home milk delivery, when I had my paper route they were a good source of "dairy" at 3:00 in the morning. We'd drink a quart and throw the incriminating evidence down a storm drain. Sometimes there was chocolate milk, but not often.

I think youngsters today would drink a lot more "dairy" if they could steal it off of front porches. Has anyone done a study on that?

The last time I drank Milk, I think it came out of a titty. I didn't have to open anything but my mouth. No unwrapping, it was just "there". Kind of a "self serve" type deal. Later in life, they tried to get me to tear up paper boxes, but that wasn't happenin'. I went straight for the CoCola and the Iced Tea.

Kid's today... well, they're what you let 'em be. I prefer mine a little on the redneck side. Keeps the competition honest.

Okay, so we didn't really go for milk in school much here in the UK when I was a kid, but if children are having to be talked through opening a carton for most of their lunch hour then I'd say not getting enough milk may be the least of their worries.
