If you are not watching Deadwood, you're seriously missing out. I mean, seriously.
Posted by Queenie at April 4, 2005 07:04 PMI LOVE that show!!! Unfortunatly where I am living we do not have HOB, so I cannot see it all the time anymore! I saw last weekends though. Glad Al was able to pass those stones! I never had any idea that they had such foul language back in those days. But the show would not be the same without it!
Posted by: Tulip at April 4, 2005 08:42 PMCaught the first three episodes of the first season, and I have to admit the profanity turned me off (me!) Not that I minded it so much, it's just that the particular epithets sounded more 21st century gangsta than 1880's wild west. Which made it extremely gratuitous. I'm thinking the profanity of the era was no less vitriolic, but probably more rural than urban.
Caught a few episodes since, but it don't blow my skirt up becuase of my initial reaction. Maybe I'll try again.
Posted by: Velociman at April 4, 2005 08:53 PMVelociman, I had the same reaction to the first episode or two; wasn't sure I'd stick it out because the dialogue - especially the cussin'- seemed so forcedly over-the-top. I gar-on-tee, though, that if you will sit down and give it another go, you may very well get hooked. I think it's the best show on television. Better than the Sopranos. Of course, I don't watch much television these days, but I promise you it's Shakespeare compared to "Friends" or "Everybody Loves Raymond" or the rest of shit seems to be taking prizes these days. Yeech.
Trust me. If not me, trust Tulip! She'll back me up. ;)
Posted by: Queenie at April 4, 2005 11:18 PMListen, fuckface! Maybe they DIDN'T use all of the goddam profanity back in those fucking days. But what are you? Some delicate cocksucker who can't handle any rough language?
FUCK YOU! Get out of this goddam town by sunset or I'll feed what little balls you have to the hogs.
I've never seen the show but I hear it's pretty good.
Posted by: Acidman at April 4, 2005 11:50 PMQueenie I've watched every episode and can't wait until Sunday night so I can see the next.
The acting is some of the best quality I've seen in some time, and the plot is delicious.
Posted by: BeeBee at April 5, 2005 06:56 AMIt is da Bomb. Swearengen is unbelieveably evil and complex. E.B. Farnum is a scream. And, I confess to having a serious thing for Alma Garret.
Finally, ya gotta LOVE Calamity Jane.
Posted by: Jim -PRS at April 6, 2005 03:33 PMBest cocksucking show on tv, you're goddamn right. Now I think I wanna go brush up against somebody's prick. Real innocent like.
